Data Analytics: Processing and Ingestion for Success

by Sarah Mason

Analytics requires content or data as a source of insight through mathematical process. How those numbers are moved from one place to another often decides whether an analysis will be successful, and there’s more than one way they can go about this! Analytics Ingestion & Data Processing both refer to processes that store analyzed information for later use. Data Ingestion is a large volume solution and the other can be any size, but requires more manual labor than Data Processing.

Data Ingestion

Data ingestion is Data ingestion is a process for transporting data from various sources to storage. There are two ways that this can be done: batch or streaming. The process used to load data records from one or more sources to import data into a table or repository is data extraction, transform, and load. This is a flow to handle volume either continuously or discrete amounts of data. There can be multiple steps in this portion of data architecture.

Data Processing

In computing, extract, transform, load is the general procedure of copying data from one or more sources into a destination system which represents the data differently from the source or in a different context than the source.

Data is a valuable and necessary resource. ETL helps to move, transform and load enormous amounts of data into various targets for effective use in all aspects of business. Maintaining an organized file system makes it easier than ever before so that we can access information quickly while avoiding any potential problems with lost or incomplete records. By processing data, records are in a format for storage in a repository or table using ETL. This is a method for small amounts of data.

Conclusion

Data Ingestion includes Data Processing, but performs at a larger scale with more automation that Data Processing. When creating ways to find answers in data by generating information and wisdom, creating a reliable data storage and keeping data properly will provide usable information through analysis of facts stored electronically.
